Objective. To determine the relationship between dyadic adjustment, the triangular theory of love, and coping strategies with anxiety and depression in couples treated by the Psychology Service of the Assisted Reproduction Program at the Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal in Lima, Peru. Methods. Observational study with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 312
participants aged between 24 and 58 years. The Triangular Love Scale, Dyadic Adjustment Scale,
Coping Strategies Questionnaire, and Anxiety and Depression Scale were used. Correlational analyses were performed prior to the construction of a structural equation model to identify which variables were signifcantly associated with anxiety and depression. Results. A model was developed showing an inverse correlation of dyadic adjustment and the triangular theory of love with anxiety, with anxiety being the variable most strongly associated with the development
of depression. The problem-focused coping strategy showed a signifcant inverse correlation with both anxiety and depression. This explanatory model demonstrated good ft indices (CFI = 0.951; TLI = 0.950; SRMR = 0.062; RMSEA = 0.011), and age and sex were not significantly related to these variables. Conclusion. The model explains the relationship between depression
and anxiety in patients from the Assisted Reproduction Program with dyadic adjustment, the triangular theory of love, and the problem-focused coping strategy.
