Objective. The objective of this research was to analyze the territorial poverty traps in Huánuco. Methods. The methodology used aimed to measure the estimation of multidimensional poverty. For this purpose, an adaptation of the multidimensional poverty index (MPI) developed by Clausen and Barrantes (2019) and the method of Alkire and Foster (2008; 2011) were applied. Results. The results obtained show that territories located far from cities generally have higher levels of poverty. Likewise, this group of territories presents evident territorial traps. Conclusions. Territorial poverty traps are not necessarily restricted to administrative boundaries or monetary poverty indicators. In turn, Huánuco shows a diversity of territories that need to be explored using other characteristics of analysis.
