Standard for reviewers
Desafíos acknowledges the valuable work of its reviewers, whose participation is essential to ensure the quality, rigor, and ethics of the manuscripts published. Below are the guidelines that must be followed by those who agree to take part in the peer review process.
Confidentiality: Every manuscript received for evaluation is a confidential document. It must not be shared, disclosed, or discussed with third parties without the express authorization of the Editorial Committee. The content of the article must not be used for the personal, professional, or academic benefit of the reviewer.
Conflicts of interest: Reviewers must refrain from evaluating a manuscript if they identify any conflict of interest with the authors, institutions, or organizations involved in the study. If a conflict of interest is detected, it must be reported immediately to the Editorial Committee.
Evaluation criteria: The reviewer must provide an objective, clear, and constructive evaluation based on the following general criteria:
- Originality and contribution of the study
- Clarity of objectives and hypotheses
- Soundness of the methodology used
- Coherence in the presentation of results and discussion
- Currency and relevance of bibliographic sources
- Writing, organization, and academic style
- Compliance with ethical and scientific standards
Possible recommendations: The reviewer must issue one of the following recommendations:
- Accepted without changes
- Accepted with modifications
- Rejected
In all cases, the decision must be justified with specific observations, indicating the aspects that need to be improved or corrected. Please refer to the Peer Review Process to understand the review protocol.
Submission format: The review must be submitted through the editorial management system (OJS) within the agreed deadline. Reviewers are requested to complete the evaluation form provided by the journal and attach, if necessary, a document with additional comments. (Click to download evaluation form)
Ethics and responsibility: Reviewers are expected to act with impartiality, professionalism, and academic integrity. Comments must be respectful, avoiding offensive or disparaging language. In cases of suspected plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or data manipulation, the Editorial Committee must be notified immediately.
Recognition: Desafíos publicly acknowledges the contribution of reviewers on its website, without linking them to specific articles, as a gesture of appreciation for their work. Additionally, a certificate of review is issued.
