Dengue, more than numbers, a differentiated attention!

Abstract

The purpose of this letter is to reflect on the importance of prevention and timely identification of signs and symptoms of the viral disease: dengue, a great challenge and challenge for public health in Peru. It is known that dengue is a febrile disease that can develop in infants, children, pregnant women and adults.1 In many people it can be asymptomatic or present with symptoms that include fever, severe headache, retroocular pain, muscle and joint pain, and a rash. The infection can progress to fever, severe bleeding and even shock, accompanied by difficulty breathing, severe bleeding and/or serious internal complications and even lead to death if not controlled in time.
