Abstract

Objective. This research sought to determine the relationship between municipal management and public value in the district of San Martín de Porres, Lima (Peru). Methods. The research was applied, with a descriptive-correlational approach and a non-experimental cross-sectional design. An anonymous questionnaire with structured responses on a Likert scale was used as a data collection instrument. The sample consisted of 246 citizens and the information was processed using Spearman's rho nonparametric statistic. Results. The correlation tests performed conclude that there is a significant relationship between the variables investigated (p-value < 0.05) on a very strong scale (rs = 0.809), leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Ha): municipal management is significantly related to public value in the San Martin de Porres district of Lima. Conclusions. Both municipal management and public value have score values that are below the mean, X = 2.31 and X  = 2.14 respectively. Likewise, we can state that public management and public services have a moderate significant relationship (p-value < 0.05, rs = 0.690); with management results a very strong significant relationship (p-value < 0.05, rs = 0.776) and with trust a very strong significant relationship (p-value < 0.05, rs = 0.814).
